I'm a bit busy because i have to get ready for company so I won't be able to do any page for friday. but i should be able to do two for monday so bear with me. these next few pages will be used to explain some of the stuff that has been going on.

well my grand plan to have a 3 update schedule again went up in flames i had a rash of things to do which is really unusual. so anyways this week is gonna be a one updater again because i want to get some stuff done and practice some new drawing things. so look for a new page friday i guess. it should be at least a little bit better than normal. look for backgrounds.

well my weekend conspired against me so i didn't finish three pages so it's come down to me finishing each page on the day it's supposed to come out. also i had a bit of trouble with one of the panels in the last comic. so anyhow i'll have three comics they'll just be late. also the panel that was screwed up was supposed to have some blood spatters behind azrael but for some reason it didn't show up right. so look for the next page on wednesday but really late.

I'm gonna try and update monday wednesday and friday so i'm gonna do the pencils for the three tomorrow and do the inking on sunday tuesday and thursday so hopefully this will work out.

manga i like pt. 1

so in the first edition of manga I like which in which i will write about various series that i read when i can find chapters on the internet or if i buy them in the stores.

so first is a series called Akumetsu. It's serialized in shonen champion comics in japan and is written by Yoshiaki Tabata and is drawn by Yuki Yogo. Story revolves around Shou Hazama who uses murder and mayhem in an attempt to eliminate corruption in japan.

I'm no real expert on what makes a manga good but i've enjoyed the chapters i could find. I haven't been able to find out if Akumetsu is liscenced but it ran from '02 to '06 and had 18 volumes.

the bad thing is i have only been able to find 25 chapters online so i hope i can find more later but it's not looking that good.

overall this is a good series for the older crowd because of extreme violence.

i'm gonna finish this comic today i swear to god just about every obstacle has been tackled and all that is left is to scan it in and ink it so i'll probably finish by mid night and i plan to attempt to finish pencils on another page on saturday i really want to get back on track with the comic but after this is finals so i'm in crunch time for school. plus after that i'm leaving town to visit some friends and whatnot.

well i'm 3 small panels short of done on the final pencils for the next page the thing is i want the comics from now on to look really good so i'm putting all of my meager skills into them so just bear with me for a little longer.

honestly compared to just about every other page i've done so far in my opinion this page makes them all look about ten times shittier than they did before. i even used good proportions and have reasonable backgrounds.

also it looks as though i may be moving out soon after christmas so that'll be interesting. the place that i hope to get into is a house rented out by 4 other members of the anime club and dear lord is it awesome not so much because of the house but the fact that they have an absolutely beastly collection of manga spanning 4 huge bookcases and a few small ones. i walked in and my jaw dropped the rest of the place isn't the most impressive thing ever but it's not bad so we'll see.

and finally i've put my basic plan for pale rider into a sort of outline that has major story arcs and chapter info. and honestly if i go at this pace and do the whole story i want to do it will honestly take like until i die of old age. fortunately for me and you i intend to become much more efficient in the near future.

I definitely won't finish this page before friday because i have a math exam and i need to do well so this will have to wait.

soon to be back on track

well it's been a long time since i had a new comic done but i'm planning on having the pencils of the third version of the next page done tomorrow and i ask that you just pretend that the characters looked the way they will now the whole time. it's kinda embarrassing looking at even the last comic i posted and it was also pretty bad when i went through all my old sketches and stuff all my stuff now looks really different. anyways since i'm on thanksgiving break for a week i'll put my nose to the grindstone and get out as many pages as i can this week.

and finally shishou is in fact japanese for master but in the apprentice/master sense not the servant/ master sense. which makes it wrong in the context i used it. so next time i want to pretend to be cool and use japanese in my comics i'll make sure i use it right (probably).

and in a totally comic unrelated note november 10th was nanocon an event sponsored primarily by the anime club at my school. we basically take over the first floor of the math building and use the big screens to show anime have a quiz game(stump the baka) and have game tournaments. i wore my urahara hat and a bunch of other random bleach stuffs (like a quincy cross, but i always wear that.) it was pretty damn cool. i got a shit ton of compliments on the hat but i still regretted not going with my original plan of light yagami cosplay.(i wanted to have an apple to take oh well it can wait till spring.) i ended up hanging around until 4 in the morning when we finished watching AMVs on a movie theater size screen. it was for lack of a better phrase tits on a stick.
so if you go to Michigan Tech like anime supersmash bros, or guitar hero you should check out the next nanocon this coming spring.

i was having a harder time with my math than i thought i would so i studied during the time i was intending to use for the new page but this weekend i'm gonna get it done and have some scripting and concept art for my new comic to do as well (first i need a name for it)

anyways i'm staying pretty busy so i can only do comics when i have a lot of extra time it's kinda the last thing on my radar right now.

well it's been a month since i last updated and honestly it hasn't been fun i've been real busy and it doesn't look like it's gonna let up real soon so i'm gonna do my best to get some stuff done anyways i have been working on a new page for a while but have run aground on a very serious problem namely that the closer a character is to bishie the farther they get from having expressive faces. the normal way around this is to do chibi's but i really hate doing that so i'll just have to find a way around it.

and finally i'm quitting work on console wars because it bores me i can't muster the interest to take time away from drawing pale rider studying and playing the guitar. honestly it's not that i don't have ideas it's just that the story wouldn't be going anywhere and i don't want to waste my time like that.

on another note i may begin a new comic that would take the place of console wars i'm still working out the details and the name but it would be a bit closer to a harem comedy than anything else and i promise that the characters won't just be borrowed from another work. so it should be original enough to stomach.

anyways look forward to new comics from me in the near future that is if i still have anybody who still reads these at all.

well i didn't get anyting except studying done this weekend and that is pretty much all i'll be getting done for the next two weeks. i have all my tests in this time frame and i have to do well. so for the time being i will do what comics i can and do character sketches. i am really getting down to something like an hour to an hour and a half a night of free time and it really blows. also the pinkie and ring fingers of my left hand have become all tingly and i can't feel things normally in them. now honestly this has no bearing on my ability to draw but it does get really annoying and distracting and that combined with my lazy tendencies makes it difficult to find the drive to work on a comic i know i won't be able to finish in one sitting.

anyway just enjoy the drawings and the one or two comics that will come.

well i am still not done with the comic from friday so i'll try to do it tomorrow morning and have it up around 1 pm then i'll get to work on wednesday's comic the thing is my speed is being hindered by the fact that i for some reason am sore all over and all my joints ache like crazy and this makes it very uncomfortable to draw especially details and in a possibly related note i can't seem to get normal feeling in the ring and pinky fingers of my left hand just a dull buzzing feeling that won't go away. my goal is to have maybe 2 or 3 more console wars comics with a possibility of less humor and then get back to the funny stuff. also soon we'll be getting the backstories for all the characters of pale rider so that will take a while or maybe i'll just do some really text heavy pages. i haven't decided yet.
i was really happy today with three new videos from little kuriboh i had my fill of Ygotas action today and the bonus video was especially good. all of them come highly recommended.

also just to formally put it out there anybody who wants to either encourage me to work faster or bitch me out for working too slow can reach me at sorenthealchemist@gmail.com i would appreciate the input and especially knowing that i'm not just putting these on the internet for no good reason (if that is your opinion than please just put it nicely so you don't hurt my feelings.)

the reason that Azrael tells me to do homework is so i don't have to do it when it's time to draw pale rider and Character Soren agrees because he's dense. i did this in class today and felt that i should actually do some work. this is totally non canonical but it may be a bit prophetic i do intend a few minor bad things to happen to Soren now but they won't be bad for very long and some of you may not think that they are bad at all.

on a funner note i have discovered that my glasses are magic disguise glasses. not one person who hasn't seen me recently recognized me because i used to have long hair and i didn't wear my glasses and now i have short hair i finally understand how people didn't notice that clark kent was superman. it's great i use it to dodge annoying people.

well i got the pencils done so i should be on time for the finished comic if i go fast which is easier for console wars and this comic will have a new character but won't name her. My major problem is that doing the comics in the manga studio debut version is getting to be the bane of my existence. hopefully soon i have the money to upgrade maybe i'll just stick it out until christmas but we'll see i may end up getting some money sooner the main thing i want is the vector based image thingy so my comics don't lose quality from when i resize them.

well it is becoming obvious that i can't get the updates up at exactly monday wednesday and friday so i will just get rid of the daily schedule and do three comics a week as soon as i can and as close to those days. but today's comic might not be finished today at all so that could offset wednesdays and it's a big domino effect that hopefully ends as i get more efficient with my pencils and inking. so please have some patience.

well finally done and it only took like a full 24 hours for some reason i still couldn't get done until now. the weirdest thing was that when i was working late last night i couldn't do the new hair on azrael so when i tried it this morning i was happy to see that i could do it the first time with ease. also we have the first appearance of Ai the fox who will be explained along with the rest of the situation when Alice(comatose girl wakes up.

five o'clock my ass

the title is self explanatory there was just a few things that are keeping me finishing the page on time first i woke up in the afternoon then the computer downstairs was misbehaving and then i had to attend a performance of the sound of music(my dad was uncle max(he played it a bit camp but it worked well) and two of my sisters played nuns(i have 4)). that combined with the fact that i keep getting into more and more difficult(at least for me) drawing techniques i am still not done at 4 AM on saturday

well some of you may have noticed that my pages since the introduction of Dominic (yugi look alike) i have been using alot of yugioh the abridged series jokes and stuff. this is a result of my intense enjoyment of YGOTAS and the fact that i like playing yugioh since i wanted to show at least a little bit of the things i enjoy. Dom Steve and the Ygotas jokes are the yugioh part of this
and you robot chicken fans know that Crap in a hat is from the episode where the nerd wins a date with scarlett johanson. i just put that in there because i started using it in conversation (this and referring to something as the bane of my existence are like my catchphrases)
the next page for pale rider will be up by 5 on friday and hopefully the chapter 2 cover will be up tonight

one last thing, the hits on both comics skyrocketed over the past couple days and you would not believe how happy that makes me. so once again keep it up and please vote for pale rider on topwebcomics and i promise to post more sketches.

well i haven't finished the console wars page yet and it's not looking good for tonight so look for it tomorrow. I'm trying out a more detailed drawing style for this one and that combined with the fact that i can't seem to decide what i want is making it difficult to get anything done... the good news is I've finished my math work up to friday.

the other news is that the violence in the last page caused quite a jump in the hit count so thats cool. but the thing is I would really appreciate the numbers to continue on that same track because surprising as it may seem i only get about 200 hits a month on either comic so when i got a quarter of that on the first day i was very excited. so i would appreciate it if the numbers stay high and if all of you voted for the comic once in a while i'll even start putting up sketches for new characters if you do. so let that be incentive for you.

well ladies and gents i still haven't been able to stay awake long enough to get a comic done. but comforting news is that i am done with work tomorrow so after that i will be able to get up later and stay up later allowing me to finish all my comics on time for at least a while

now an update on the state of the stories of our comics. both are nearing the end of their first chapters and will begin a new chapter the week after next... i think. anyways you'll also get to meet a plethora of new characters for both comics.

by the way i was pleasantly surprised to see that i was still able to gather hits even without having new comics so the plan is to make the sites more useful and helpful such as a list of links to all the webcomics i read and some of the other sites i find useful. i was also thinking of making a new banner logo thingy an archive thing that works and a twitter. and a link to the wiki articles i have.

anywho i guarantee that i will be more reliable on my updates.

well as you may have noticed the fact that i have been rather awful at updating on time . the fact of the matter is that first i had no internet for 2 weeks and then some of my friends came up for a week during which we only watched comedy movies and yugioh the abridged series. i still can't log in to my siteadmin but i have discovered that i can update my comics it is just a matter of waiting until midnight on the day that i put it on ftp. The other issue is that this prevents me from changing the site in any way until i can get back on siteadmin. i'm going out of town this weekend which means that i will have no way to update the comic with full size strips but i did put together some nice filler today so pale rider will update on friday and monday like it should... i think. i'll be back on time for console wars and i would also like to apologize for the stick figures in the last page at first i had them all drawn in and inked but my computer restarted when i was away for updates and i hadn't saved though i thought that the color might make up for it. i'm not gonna commit to color comics from now on but they are fun to do even if they take a long time. also my very first sketch of Azrael is up for a new vote incentive. please take the time to vote on topwebcomics.com.

well i should be done with the new first page of pale rider soon by sunday night but now i know that this hiatus was a crappy idea i have almost completely lost it. i used to be able to get a comic done in a day even with the tv and music on but it has taken me almost a week to do this comic so i will update but i will still have to get back in the groove of doing comics on time. as far as console wars goes it will start again on wednesday so from now on the update schedule will be as follows: updates to pale rider will be posted on monday and friday and updates to console wars will be up on wednesdays anyways the good thing about this setup is that i should be able to keep it up during school as well i'll just have to push myself.
soon after i get back in the proverbial saddle i intend to fix up the sites so that i have link pages and a contact e-mail for the people who don't read the blog. the link pages are important to me because i read alot of webcomics and it's good to spread the word about the ones that i like. in fact one of the reasons that i am taking so long with this new page is that i have been reading every single Dominic Deegan strip ever made and since Mookie updates every day there are alot anyways now that i've finished i can get back to work.

in news that made me really happy, ever since i put pale rider on topwebcomics i was the only person that ever voted for it but the other day i found that someone else voted. so to that person thanks so much i am happy that you enjoy pale rider enough to support it

so after i said i would be done on sunday i saw that there was a marathon of heroes on the scifi channel and since i've been meaning to check the show out i watched the whole 21 episode marathon. that's why i am so late. anyways i might be a little late on tuesday becuase we have company cominga on monday and i can't just go up to my room and work. anyways i had originally started this page with a full on fight scene but instead i introduced my new character more to follow soon.

well now that summer is just around the corner all those d-bag freshmen that would have been doing other things when it was cold have now started hanging around a local park and heckling people who go there. My part in this began this evening when me and my sister decided to go down and hit a few tennis balls at the courts, well after about two minutes of those little punkasses and their annoying as hell commentary my sister decided she'd had enough. At this point i was also so pissed that i wanted to start a fight. in the end i told them to fuck off and we left. now of course this was not the best course of action but honestly nothing is more annoying than that kind of crap. honestly the fact that a bunch of little d-bags like that are gonna hang around all summer is not gonna stop me from going. but it will probably limit my trips down to some with my dad who wouldn't take that shit either.

anyways i was lazy yesterday and didn't finish the comic and then as i was working on it today i realized it needed a lot of work so look for a new console wars sunday

for some reason this week every time i set a comic to update it takes a really long time please don't blame me but instead blame all the other comic genesis people who update on tuesday and wednesday.

as i am writing this post i have just finished explaining the first story arc of pale rider to my little sister. i think that next week i'll be to the point that the basic underpinnings of the story will fall into place for all to see and i'll finally be able to do the fun parts.

i apologize i was not able to get the whole comic done so i just put up one panel that i had done i will rework the comic and have the full version up on may 6th i appreciate your patience.

so anyways i saw the last episode of ouran yesterday it was great i highly recommend the series to anyone interested in anime

also it's official i have an unholy obsession with the opening songs from anime. it started with fullmetal and then spread to ghost in the shell. well now it's at the point that i would actually watch an anime just because it had a good opening song.

other good news was that toonami showed DBZ on saturday first time i actually watched a lot of toonami since yu yu hakusho went off.

Last meeting

today is the last meeting of the anime club i can go to this semester it makes me wish i had gone the whole year oh well no use crying over spilt milk. anyways the meeting is the reason that i won't be done with the comic until late, but i was thinking of just starting over because the same thing that happened last week with the weird outlines on the tones that only shows up when you zoom out and for some reason it doesn't happen with the stuff that is all on the computer so i may make another attempt at that. regardless this comic will be the last before exams and so after this one you'll have to wait until probably the 6th of may i may post up some doodles and other stuff that i do while on short breaks but no comics.

also the archive page issues on both comics will be fixed as soon as i get a chance for now just use the dropdowns thanks and have a good day

yesterday decided to do the whole Console wars comic for this week on the computer and i have to admit it looks about 5 times better than when i sketched it out on paper first but when i tried to do the same for pale rider it failed miserably. oh well look for a sunday release on both Hurray for updating on time. Pale rider is up now for now it just has the first page and i haven't made any changes but i'll get that fixed soon the site is at palerider.comicgenesis.com check it hopefully i'll also get some html written for the site by then as well.

In case you guys haven't noticed i update my blog way more than the comic. So on to my dream I had this crazy dream that began with me killing zombies ala RE4 and for some reason Shirt guy Dom was there too and was using these huge guns to kill blast the crap out of zombies. then at some point after i got rid of the zombies in the house Road Kamelot from D.Gray-Man showed up with these crazy Akuma/Hollow hybrids and then i was fighting them with this huge cross weapon kinda like wolfwood's cross punisher but with chains not guns and i had a sweet black fedora like hat and then the house turned into a giant Monster and then i smashed his head in with the cross. it was such a good dream i wrote it down and may turn it into a comic.

Also I'm really curious to find out how those of you that read Console Wars found it just leave a comment on this post to tell me how and i promise i'll read them. i also promise to go at least as many comics without interruptions as i get in comments.

Exams are killing me

I really want to do new comics but the site for Pale Rider isn't up yet and i have to spend way more time studying for my chem and bio tests and i have to stay focused.

Now to do the exact opposite

as of yesterday D.gray Man is my favorite manga. I'm sure that most of you that read manga are sitting there aghast thinking that i'm crasy and some of you may agree and those of you that don't read manga are probably sitting there saying "I don't fucking care" oh well. I used to be all about bleach but even though i still like it it just doesn't have the same hold on me as before. part of it might have to do with the fact that i haven't been able to get a chapter off of bleach 7 in a while and i can never get on the forums. Another part of this is that i am trying to get on the story team for the bleach forums/bleach 7 game which for now is called Death Gods Online and i ran into severe writers block on my application assignment and now i won't be able to finish it until after school ends.

anyways enough of my bitching

the good news is i have most of the first saga for Pale Rider planned out and written down and am about done with a plan for Console Wars which will make it easier to get done on time because of better planning also i may go to 2 updates a week during the summer. since most of you will see this on sunday I will actually put up some kind of comic. because my exams will be over for a while but after that is finals and now comics will be finished.

The bad news is I found another comic called Console Wars on the Webcomic List. Honestly I'd Change the name of mine if i hadn't seen that the last update was september 2006 and that i couldn't find the website no matter how hard i tried.
Oh well if any of you can find this comic leave a comment on this post and i'll deal with the problem.

I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out but it was quite the chore it takes me nearly twice as much time to do one of these kinds of strips as it does to do one for console wars anyways the site for Pale Rider should be up in about a week. and will probably have a short break along with console wars so that i can take my exams but after that i go into them both full swing.

Well i meant to get the fantastic first look at my new comic Pale Rider up but my inability to do backgrounds to my own satisfaction has caused me to delay it. I might have been able to do it yesterday if not for the fact that i spent all day out in the freezing cold trying to get the family cars working i missed my math class for the 3rd time this week because of those freaking cars. anyways check on easter i'll have some kind of news and a picture but I'm officially putting the start date of pale rider at a week after i get Manga Studio.

Other than all the bad stuff i managed to get to finally get to a meeting of my schools anime club. They're pretty clever their name makes is the Acronym H.A.R.O i think its pretty clever. Anyways they showed a about six or seven episodes but my favorites were D.grey-man, code geass, welcome to the NHK, and Ouran High School Host Club. the last one surprised me but it was hilarious i couldn't stop laughing. nothing funnier than a guy trying to confess his love to a girl dressed as a guy while all the girls in the school look on. I was also really happy that they showed D.grey-Man because i have just started collecting the manga but the store in this god forsaken hell hole only has the first volume and nothing past what i have in my other collections either.

A Crisis of Character

I love the internet so much! i just spent the last two days reading every last megatokyo comic it was a good source of ideas and has inspired a few new characters for me. a few other things such as i have decided to go to black and white at least to start on the new comic so it has a more "manga" feel. i also think i'm gonna get manga studio.

i also got a job for the summer. meaning that i'll have money to get a 360 and electric guitar and any other things i decide i want at least for a while. this will also have no effect on the comics because i only work 7am to 3pm
Some thing that will affect the comics are that the characters seem to be getting away from me. I know some people don't really get this but you can't draw a comic if you don't have an accurate grasp of their personality. the other thing is i'm trying to get a spot on the bleachforums MMO and i have to come up with character sketches for a bunch of characters. which is interfering with the comic characters but is giving me severe brain blockage. hopefully i can get over this wall before i lose it for good.

I hope i haven't bored you with the details of my life but whining and complaining are what blogs are for.

Power Glove 2.0

well the change in this comic is the probably just gonna be cosmetic. it happened because a bunch of people saw my original helmet drawings and asked if the guy in the helmet was Soren, when i told them yes almost all of them said they liked it better so I changed it. Trust me it looks much better from different angles as far as the glove goes i just did it for the first time there but i thought if Soren has a next gen sword he should have a next gen power glove. As far as all the references in the second half of the comic I just have to say a have an unholy obsession with most things gundam and the first 2 were just to satiate the thirst for gundam. the second one is less a reflection of an obsession and more a reflection of the fact that I almost never find out about memes until after everyone else has left them by the wayside. this one was more spur of the moment and completely unimportant but i like it also if you've forgotten the sound of the scream at the end I suggest watching the video again.

also from now on i will update Console Wars on Sunday morning. also look out for my new comic coming soon I've finally got a name but I'll just keep it a secret for now. Anyways i think it will be really good and hopefully you'll all enjoy it. just as soon as i get the first page drawn and the website is up.

Sorry, I promise I will have a real comic up on Sunday if not tomorrow. after that Console Wars will be on a week hiatus for tests with a possibility of filler and look for my next project to start in the early part of April I'm getting really excited to start it and i can't wait to have the summer to work on both comics. my only problem now is coming up with a name for it. I have ideas it's just hard to choose.
